The Penn State Rugby team has been invited to participate in the 2013 USA Sevens
Collegiate Rugby Championship to be played June 1-2 at PPL Park in Philadelphia.
This annual event has quickly become one of the premier rugby events in the
country, and we hope you will be able to come out and support our
team.
The Penn State men's team will be one of
the 20 elite collegiate programs playing a round-round tournament on Saturday.
Participating schools include two-time defending champion Dartmouth, Cal, Notre
Dame, Wisconsin, and Army. Each team will play 3 games over the course of the
day, before advancing to Championship round matches on Sunday. Select matches
will be broadcast live on NBC.
Please show your
support for Penn State Rugby by purchasing your tickets today! Penn State Rugby
has a commitment to sell 300 two-day tickets. If you purchase tickets before
May 1st, the price for a two-day ticket is $35 at www.usasevenscrc.com/tickets/pennstate.
If you purchase your tickets after May 1st, the price goes up to $45 per
two-day ticket. Reserve your tickets today and help support the Penn State
Rugby program!
Rugby Sevens features seven
players per team playing on the same full-sized field as a traditional
15-person-per-side rugby match. The wide field offers non-stop action where
speed, high scoring, and athleticism dominate the competition. The format
allows for constant entertainment with each match split into two seven-minute
halves. Rugby Sevens will return as an Olympic sport starting in 2016, and this
tournament offers a preview of the talent pool available for the U.S. Olympic
team. For more information on the tournament, visit USASevensCRC.com.
